Content Creators Have Lost the Plot

Content creators are so far gone. I repeat, they are so far gone. And I say that knowing I am one of them.

Over time, I have watched my life slowly spiral into worry, and pressure of the unknown. It felt like being stripped of everything. Identity. Confidence. Clarity. I used to hear stories like this all the time. A character’s fall from grace. The moment where everything is taken away and they are forced to start over. Usually they come back holding a Bible or running a farm somewhere. Half joke, half truth.

Faith and grounding have always been a part of me. But this moment was not about religion. It was about realizing how far I had drifted. I was not stripped of everything because I failed. I was stripped because I needed grounding. And I realized that this is what so many creators are missing.

If this is you, ask yourself what made you begin your journey in the first place. If you are a musician, why was the love for music no longer enough? If you are a creator, when did passion turn into pressure? Somewhere along the way, we allowed society to take our gifts and run with them. We began measuring our talent by likes, views, and validation. Yes, most of us have fallen into that trap.

God places dreams in our hearts for a reason. That dream is purpose. Everyone has one. We were never meant to live empty lives chasing numbers. We were meant to live lives filled with meaning. Now let us be honest. Money matters. In this world, money is important. But imagine a life where you are walking fully in your purpose. Imagine focusing on the people who are genuinely thankful that your gift exists. The people you have helped. The lives you have touched. We ignore them because we want the dopamine hit.

We want the virality. We want the applause.

Being able to create is one of the most beautiful gifts a person can possess. The ability to write, speak, design, sing, or create visuals is not accidental. It is a gift from God. And gifts are meant to be treated with care.

Making money from social media is not the problem. In fact, it is an incredible opportunity that many take for granted. The problem begins when money becomes the motivation instead of the byproduct. When we operate only from worldly desires and not from purpose, burnout follows. The spirit grows tired. Joy fades. Fulfillment disappears.

As creators, we need to ground ourselves again in why we started. In our purpose. In service. In people.

Recently, I watched a content creator named Jaclyn Hill speak openly about her following decreasing and her struggle with no longer feeling as relevant as she once did. Many laughed. Many criticized. Many threw stones. But I saw something different. I saw an example. Not an example of failure, but a reminder. A public illustration of what happens when identity becomes tied to popularity. Moments like these are not meant for ridicule. They are messages. Warnings. Invitations to reflect. Because it could happen to any of us.

I do not know Jaclyn Hill personally. But I do know women whose lives were impacted by her work. Her products made them feel confident. She inspired people to believe they could build something of their own. That matters. That is legacy. And if that is not enough, then the problem is not success. It is perspective.

This article is a call to creators. A call to pause. A call to reflect. A call to return.

Open your Bible. Ground yourself. Let God work. Be great. Be passionate. Be disciplined. Be a business person. But above all, have faith.

The money will come from serving people well. From creating with intention. From walking in purpose. Not from chasing applause.

We are stepping into our higher selves. And that begins by remembering who we were before the world told us who to be.

If you are a content creator who feels disconnected, I expand on it further in my YouTube video below. Follow me on all social media platforms and join my email list for more reflections on faith, purpose, and creation.
