Houston rapper Sauce Walka, born Albert Walker Mondane, was involved in a shooting incident in downtown Memphis on Saturday, March 22, 2025. The event occurred near the Westin Hotel, close to the FedExForum, around 2:42 p.m.
In the incident, Sauce Walka sustained a gunshot wound to his thigh and was transported to Regional One Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Another individual, identified as Memphis rapper Latorian Hunt, known as Sayso P, was pronounced dead at the scene.
The Memphis Police Department has indicated that the shooting was targeted and not a random act of violence. Assistant Chief Don Crowe stated that suspects arrived in a white four-door sedan, exited the vehicle, and began shooting before fleeing the scene. Authorities have identified the suspect vehicle and are actively working to make an arrest, utilizing downtown camera footage and other available technology.
Following the incident, Sauce Walka addressed the situation in a video, expressing his grief over the loss of Sayso P. He stated, “R.I.P. Sayso P,” and added, “In the name of my brother. I love Memphis. I love y’all. I have no hard feelings.”
As of now, no arrests have been made, and the investigation is ongoing. The Memphis Police Department is urging anyone with information to contact Memphis CrimeStoppers.
